Well, it's March -- National Novel Editing Month. After leaving Boston Thomas on the shelf for six months, I think I do want to go back and edit it. But I'll still have to wait a few more months. As most of you know, I'm in the midst of a career change, and I gave my computer to my mom shortly after moving, fully expecting to have been able to buy a new computer by now. This is why I never was able to finish Captain Venture's story. Someday I'll get back to it.
But in the meantime I'm trying to work out changes to the novel. It'll be in store for some major changes. First: no space cowboys. Instead Boston Thomas (who, on reconsidering the name will become Neptune Jim) will instead become a space trucker. Instead of the space cowboy guild it's the interstellar teamsters. Think "Star Wars" meets "Convoy" meets "Hoffa."
Anyway, that's what's going on now, to keep you reader(s) who want to know up to date.
P.S. -- I guess the name is still original, too. Googling "Neptune Jim" has my blog as the top item. Though the space truckers idea has been around for a bit.

Hey, excellent! I still haven't finished my novel (oops), but I have been thinking of it again recently. I started going back over it, and although some parts are exactly as bad as I remembered, some other parts are actually mostly okay. I still think yours sounds like lots of fun, and I would love to read it someday.
ALLLLLLLLLLLL RIIIIIIIIGGHHT!!
Wendy, you should keep going. I think just that fact that your book has good parts is a good sign. Mine's pretty much as bad as I remembered all the way through.
Starting this fall I'm going to be in school for the next 4-6 years, so I want to finishing my writing before then. If I do you can read anything you want.
Yay! A post from George! I mean, I know I'm not the most frequent of posters, but, well, I was beginning to wonder.
What were you thinking when you gave up your computer before you got the other one?
I was thinking: "Heck, I'll be making more money and I'll buy a new one."
But because of some unexpected charges and expenses, it didn't happen. Now I'm trying to save every penny I can for school in case I need to change jobs.
I'd given up on you!
I actually read my project from September about two weeks ago. Not as bad as I thought.
I'm thinking about going in and doing some editing, and I'd enjoy it more if it wasn't editing for publication, just editing for my standards. And then I may want to go back and do a sequel. All these characters feel like interesting friends I made whom (who? f*** it) I haven't seen for a while. I want to pick a survivor and do a new story from her perspective.
Anyway, welcome back! Did you quit the new job?
No, I haven't quit the new job yet. I need to go down to part time in the fall when nursing school starts, and even commuting I'll still make more money than what I could get in OKC, so I'll still be in Tulsa.
I really wish I had a PC right now, though. I want to do a novel about journalists, and draw parallels between the industry and Scientology. That way Tom Cruise can star in the movie version after I sell the film rights.
